Rosacea
Rosacea often begins with a tendency to blush or flush easily. It is a chronic inflammatory condition that waxes and wanes and can start as early as childhood. Symptoms are best controlled by lifestyle measures, customized skin care, medications and aesthetic treatments; early diagnosis is key.
There are 4 main types of rosacea, each of which can occur in isolation, or simultaneously:
- Erythematotelengiectatic (redness and flushing)
- Papulopustular
- Phymatous
- Occular
One of the main symptoms that patients come in with is “sensitive skin”, which is why the cornerstone of rosacea therapy is gentle and effective skincare. Cleansers should be gentle, non-soap based, and without fragrances or alcohol. Use moisturizers frequently and apply physical (or mineral) sunscreens to prevent any further inflammation/irritation. If using make up or other cosmetics, ensure they are mineral based.
What about the treatment of erythema and flushing?
The V-Beam laser is a pulse-dye laser that delivers short bursts of laser energy to the targeted treatment area. The laser beam targets and coagulates broken and damaged blood vessels and vascular lesions so they may be naturally reabsorbed by your body during the healing process.
In as little as 3-5 treatments, our V-Beam laser therapy will transform your skin, by reducing the flushing, redness and inflammation associated with rosacea.
