Biostimulators
Description
Biostimulators are a type of injectable that trigger your own skin’s ability to produce collagen. Over the course of 4-6 weeks after injection, these biostimulators help strengthen the skin, firm it, and smoothen it for a more youthful appearance. These injectables help lengthen the time between dermal filler (hyaluronic acid) injections, and the best part is that the collagen you produce is yours to keep!
At PureSkin Dermatology, we use a variety of biostimulators to suit your skin’s needs, including Radiesse & Sculptra.
Biostimulators used at PureSkin Dermatology are Radiesse and Sculptra.
- Rejuvenate your skin, naturally
- Long lasting results
- Treat your face, neck, hands, chest and even buttocks
What is a biostimulator treatment?
Loss of collagen, a natural substance in our bodies that keeps our skin looking young and smooth, occurs as early as our late 20’s. Collagen loss can lead to deep folds and wrinkles, as well as a hollow appearance.
At PureSkin Dermatology we use both Sculptra® and Radiesse®. Sculptra® is a poly-L-lactic acid-based injectable treatment and Radiesse® is calcium hydroxylapatite, both provide instant filler like effect while simultaneously stimulating collagen production, resulting in improved skin elasticity and texture over time, leading to natural and long-lasting results.
Who is a candidate for biostimulators?
- Individuals seeking to restore lost volume and improve skin texture.
- Those with mild to moderate facial wrinkles, folds, or hollow areas.
- Individuals looking for natural looking, long-lasting results gradually over multiple treatment sessions.
What To Expect
What to expect during treatment
Prior to injection, a local anesthetic is administered to decrease discomfort during the procedure.
You may feel a slight pinch or pressure during the injections, but any discomfort is typically minimal.
You may have a very small amount of pinpoint bleeding where the needle was inserted. This usually subsides in a few minutes.
What to expect after treatment
After the injection, the area will be massaged to evenly distribute the product. You may apply ice packs to ease tenderness and swelling after the procedure.
You may feel some soreness around treated areas. There may be some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, but these effects usually subside within 1-3 days.
Results are usually not noticeable after the first treatment. 2 – 4 treatments of Sculptra®/Radiesse® are recommended at monthly intervals to achieve the desired result.
If Sculptra® was administered, our skincare experts may advise you to massage the treated areas 5 x a day x 5 minutes x 5 days.
